In my acedemic training I have taught Lab classes in general, analytical, organic, biochemistry and advanced chemistry courses. As part of my training I have been instructed in Mathmatics to the level of Calculus. I am currently volunteering as editor for ttwo newsletters for non-profit organizations. I have wrote several publications including a Master's thesis and a Ph.D tthesis.I have a background in biology at the undergraduate level as well. I teach by example, leading the student through a problem by asking questions about each step so that they can learn how to approach the problem themselves. I watch and evaluate the students as they work and provide guidence when thy make errors. I enjoy interacting with children of all ages and I do so in a kind and curteous manner. I am a good listener and have the patience and skills to understand where a child needs the most help.

I enjoy helping others and have often volunteered my proofreading and editing skills to my friends, family, and classmates. While in college, I took numerous creative writing classes that utilized workshop and group editing techniques. As a result, I have learned how to give constructive criticism and how to help others improve their writing without compromising their own unique style and voice. As a writer myself, I understand literary theory and technique, as well as the importance (and many facets) of authorship, which I try to pass along to my students through excercises and activities. I have a Bachelor's degree in English Writing from the University of Nevada, Reno, and am currently in the process of applying to graduate school for Creative Writing. I believe in a multifaceted approach to the different types of learners, aural, visual, kinesthetic, and reading/writing and aim to incorporate all learning styles in my teaching. I watched my brother struggle through school and learning disabilities all his life, so I tutored him through math and English since 7th grade. I found if you connect with a student and create ways that speak to him, you can foster learning. I helped my brother write flow charts on full-length mirrors to chart plotlines from books. He was a kinesthetic learner and this method of engaging worked for him. If you don’t create an environment that the students enjoy, they’ll keep texting or turn on their ipod again.
