Experience Summary
I have a Bachelor's degree in English Writing from the University of Nevada, Reno, and am currently in the process of applying to graduate school for Creative Writing. During the past year, I have tutored part-time as a writing tutor through the in-home tutoring company Study Buddies.
Recently, I have had work published in the University of Nevada's "Brushfire" literary magazine and the Nevada Historical Society's archive. In October of 2006, I presented at the annual Buster Keaton Conference in Iola, Kansas.
Teaching Style
I enjoy helping others and have often volunteered my proofreading and editing skills to my friends, family, and classmates. While in college, I took numerous creative writing classes that utilized workshop and group editing techniques. As a result, I have learned
how to give constructive criticism and how to help others improve their writing without compromising their own unique style and voice.
As a writer myself, I understand literary theory and technique, as well as the importance (and many facets) of authorship, which I try to pass along to my students through excercises and activities.
