My first choice is to use one syllable words to teach spelling and build to two, then three and so forth. With multi-syllable words I teach where a word "breaks" because the tongue cannot articulate all the syllable at once say in a words such as proficient, or establishment. I am a listener first and foremost. I want to know what my students expect from me and in what areas s/he regard as most essential to her/his success. I believe all people can learn and understand. It is a pleasure to watch students grow in skill and comprehension and move toward confidence. I love teaching. I earned my BA before I was old enough to vote.
