As an early childhood teacher, I have had several opportunities to help children (school age), to do homework. I also was a tutor in high school to a boy for just Algebra, which then turned around to being all of his subjects and helping him keep on track. The hardest thing for me was that he had only lived in the U.S. for four years, and had trouble speaking English. After each session of tutoring, I would grab the Scrabble board, which encouraged him to use more words, learn new words, and have fun while doing so.
I like to get to the point of certain problems, such as reading the child/student when I see them, ask them some questions about the subjects they need help in and why they need help. I have worked with Infants-School age for over 5 years, and enjoy being there to help someone in need. I believe in giving back, because so many of us are blessed already.

I have worked hard over many years to asses the needs of individual students. Firstly, I assess the learning level and learning style of the student over the first week or two. Secondly, I approach the teaching style according to those findings. Thirdly, I assess the progress of the student in relation to the teaching style and make any necessary changes in approach. I teach students to look at (analyze) the music to find similarities, likenesses and problem spots. The results are excellent in seeing that the learner remembers lessons and instruction. As a member of the Wellesley community and past student at St. Sebastians school, I have learned to achieve at an extremely high level of education. A Little Bit About Me...

Although I believe in some degree of structure, I am very flexible in my teaching style. Every student is different - I work with each one individually to determine their goals and then develop an appropriate, unique program. Children learn best by actively participating in the material. I try to engage them as much as possible, whether it be with a lively discussion about music history, practicing and performing a piece of music until we are both satisfied with the result, or hearing and speaking French instead of simply memorizing the grammatical rules of the language.
