My teaching style is very simple. I want to make sure that students understand the concept, so they can succeed in their math classes. I have the ability to model concepts by providing students specific examples. I believe that everyone has the ability to do mathematics. But in order to learn mathematics, they need to get their hands dirty and work on many problems. My forte is science and math, which are often students' least favorite subjects, due to earlier difficulty. A solid basic understanding of these subjects is critical to being an independent, engaged adult; and it's just plain cool to understand how the world works! I enjoy removing the fear and guiding the students to increase their competence and self-confidence. I am funny, enthusiastic and know how to use the student's background as a "hook" to pull them into the subject.
I have a BA in Psychology, MS in Zoology and BS in Computer Science. I have lifetime Arizona Community College certification in psychology, biology, ecology and remedial math.
