I believe that every student can learn more than they think

I have taught for over 30 years in a variety of institutions, but mostly public schools. I am conversant in Spanish and have a broad range of interests and fields of knowledge, including English literature, Math, History, Science, current events and Politics. I have taught grades 3-12, and have experiences teaching all income levels and socio-economic backgrounds.
I am a laid back type of instructor and use my experience and intuition to create unique learning environments for each student. My style is patient, respectful, fair and adaptive. The goal is to find what works well for the student, not take a rigid one-size-fits-all approach that a classroom may employ. I start looking right away for “What is missing?” I have seen many students who are perfectly capable but struggle because they missed a fundamental building block. Learning is always difficult. This is normal and I make sure students remember that.
