During the last three years of my undergraduate college career, I was a Mathematics tutor for student athletes. I enjoy having the freedom to create innovative and interesting ways of presenting material. I believe the student I am working with is the most important part of teaching any subject; I can teach them how to solve a problem, but this information is 'lost to the wind' if it's not sinking in with them. I use skills of observation to judge what is being retained, and what is being lost. There is no harm in repetition, either on a particular problem, or on a whole concept. I like being flexible, and am happy to adjust to each individual's learning style. One of the best ways I've found to reinforce the knowledge is to work out an example problem as they watch, and then ask *them* to solve a similar problem while I offer suggestions.
