I started by tutoring introduction to chemistry- college level at the University of Texas - El Paso where I attended. This was a part time student job that made me consider teaching. I then tutored chemistry, physics, and mathematics at a nearby high school. This was the preparation for the state exam (Texas) called TAKS. This introduced me to the high school level and I liked it. I went ahead and worked with the school district for one more semester before I was assigned a school for my internship/student teaching. My style of teaching includes visual explanation (white board or chalk board), oral discussion, and hands-on manipulation when ever possible. I try to use as many teaching styles as possible as not all students learn via the same means. My style is also fexible based on the student I am instructing (age or handicaps). I graduated high school in the International Baccalaureate program with a 4.5 gpa and 30 college credits. I then went on to the University of Colorado starting out as a sophomore. I graduated 3 years later with a degree in Integrative Physiology. I have an extensive background in science and math. As a recent CSU-Pueblo graduate with a mathematics major and a double minor in both physics and economics, I feel I have plenty of education for this position. My teaching style is delivered as a colleague and not a lecturer. I feel that my delivery breaks down the students inhibition towards the subject. If the lecturer teaches the concept as if only a very few can understand this, the student builds up breakers that will inhibit theor learning.
