I'm an easy going personality and patient with my students. I currently teach privately to a few adults right now out of my home and enjoy what I do. I've been a professional musician for over 40 years and teach children to adults, from beginner to advanced. I have done many clinics for students at schools teaching improvisation and demonstrations. I believe I can make a difference in their lives.
I majored in music at American River College and earned a full music scholarship to the University of Reno that I won in the Reno Jazz Festival. I decided to turn pro and went on the road as a professional Sax, clarinet, flute and lead vocalist. I have worked for and played with some of the top international acts in the world.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a firm believer that learning should be fun! Research shows that children learn best through exploration and play, so I strive to create this climate during all of my teaching endeavors. In addition, I spend time getting to know my students and forging relationships with them; this helps me connect with them and adapt my teaching strategies to what is most enjoyable for them. I wholeheartedly believe that each child holds the potential for the same educational gains -- I help them achieve these gains by being a partner in learning rather than a micromanaging educator.
I began my teaching career as a Certified Cognitive Skills Trainer, educating children ages 6 to 17 years. As I mentioned above I have worked with all age groups of students and feel that I am very patient and flexible. I strive to have students be the best they can be by giving them confidence to want to learn. I believe in giving students the opportunity to try and put into practice that which they are learning so it is very experiencial providing a very well rounded educational experience. I believe in the saying that if you give someone a fish they will eat for a day but if you teach some to fish they will eat for a lifetime.
