I have been teaching and working with children for the past 10 years in Montessori Schools, YMCAs, church groups, before and after school programs, city summer programs. In college I earned a degree in Applied Communications where I learned the art of effective communcation, through the mediums of writing, speaking and non verbal communication. I took many english classes, as well as education classes. I have been teaching yoga to people ages 2- 60+ here in Colorado Springs and in San Franisco for the past 4 years.

Most of my career experience has been in News-Editorial and creative writing. As my daughter and son (now young adults) have grown and matured, I have been involved at several levels and in various paid and volunteer capacities as teacher, assistant/aide, and tutor. My substitute teaching experience primarily has been in the subjects of English, social studies, music, math, and art.
I am patient, kind, respectful, and good-humored. I have noted that my own excitement in learning is contagious. I believe each of us excels in individual areas of particular interest. I support self-esteem, self-respect, and respect for others, and I think these qualities and values are self-motivating. I learn, as well, from those whom I teach.

My first academic teaching experience started in the fifth grade, when my teacher asked me to help my classmates after school. Slowly my love of teaching and helping my classmates grew. Later I was asked to give lessons to my classmates during school hours. I started my own tutoring service for school children in my college days. During my Ph.D. program, I taught several undergraduate and graduate courses in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. I have earned my Bachelor's and master's degrees in biochemistry and my PhD is in Biochmeistry-Genetics.
