A Little Bit About Me...

I was a substitute teacher assistant for children with special needs ages 3-21, on and off for the past 6 years. I have 6 months of experience in outdoor education teaching various science classes and other outdoor, leadership and art classes/skills. I also tutored college undergrads in calculus and botany for a year in college.

I am passionate about teaching and learning, and I love all people. I am an advocate of task-based learning, multiple intelligences, and the all-around inductive/constructivist approach to learning. I am a firm believer in the idea that all people have the same innate capacity to learn, but that this is manifested in different ways. This is particularly important because I beleive a good teacher should be able to discover the individual and specific ways that a student relates or acquires information best (visually, aurally, kinesthetically etc.) and can then take that information and develop appropriate excercises and teaching materials to help maximize that student's learning experience. I have a B.A. in Accounting as I have a great passion for the financial world. After earning a bachelor degree in Mathematics/Statistics I entered graduate school with the intention of going into the Computer Science field. Teaching undergraduates, as a teaching assistant, I uncovered my desire to help and teach. In an effort to find a better path I'm now enrolled as a first year professional student in a Pharmacy program. I have an extensive educational background in math and sciences to draw upon.

A Little Bit About Me...

In my acedemic training I have taught Lab classes in general, analytical, organic, biochemistry and advanced chemistry courses. As part of my training I have been instructed in Mathmatics to the level of Calculus. I am currently volunteering as editor for ttwo newsletters for non-profit organizations. I have wrote several publications including a Master's thesis and a Ph.D tthesis.I have a background in biology at the undergraduate level as well.
I teach by example, leading the student through a problem by asking questions about each step so that they can learn how to approach the problem themselves.
