A Little Bit About Me...

After earning a bachelor's degreee in Psychology and receiving my Elementary Education certification at Gonzaga University in 2007, I worked at Mario Umana Middle School Academy teaching environmental education in Boston. I currently work as a teacher's assistant in a Supported Learning Center program for students with Asperger’s Syndrome. I work one-on-one with high school students in the program, assisting them with work in math, science, English and social studies. Additionally, when I was in high school, I worked as a math tutor for algebra students. The concepts and techniques I learned from my education classes have been invaluable in differentiating my instruction and supporting each student based on his/her needs and abilities.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a newly graduate from Northern Arizona University, I earned a BS in Biology with an emphasis in Zoology also 3 minors including: Mathematics, Spanish, and Chemistry. Over the past four years I have gained the understanding in various studies. Also I have written many research papers and laboratory reports in the sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Forestry. I have tutored High School students in math for AIMS and a high school student in Biology.
I enjoy working with children, young adults, and adults. Teaching others in any way is beneficial for them and in the long run for me. I am a friendly and patient person that cares about the education of others and myself. Learning can be difficult at times and a tutor or teacher might be needed. The biggest thing for me when teaching younger kids is patience. I never expect them to know something just because I do; they pick up on frustration which only makes them frustrated themselves. I believe that kids have the capacity to learn anything they please, and I do my best to transfer this belief to them. I never place myself on a pedestal with them, rather I make an effort to ensure that we see eye to eye. I respect them, and they offer me the same in return. For older students, I make sure that they don’t feel barred in by my (or the professors) opinion; rather I encourage them to formulate their own theories, so long as they can back them up. In all cases, I create a relationship with my students in which they can feel comfortable being honest and open with me. Positive reinforcement is the key.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been teaching since 2005, and doing one-on-one tutoring for just as long. I graduated with a BA in Anthropology, and an MA in Philosophy and Religion. Most of my teaching has been with children ages 10-14, though I have experience with everyone from Kindergarten to College. During my Masters, I wrote my thesis on the Philosophy of Science, and studied Ancient Archaeology in depth during my undergraduate years. I write fiction in my spare time, and have extensive experience with research and term papers.
