My experience in the field of teaching includes a few things. I have experience in the classroom via student teaching, and what they all "practicum" during my last year of college. During these classes, I attended 2nd and 5th grades of two different schools. Also, after college, I was a substitute teacher for a year in which I found myself in a wide variety of grade levels.

I prefer one-on-one and I teach phonics approach to reading. I have taught Elementary Education in Ohio for 30 years. I taught GED for Garrard County for 10 years.I have always enjoyed working with students who do not understand their subjects, especially in Math. I have tutored students in reading programs from first grade to the High School Equivalency program. I also have a B.S. in broadcast journalism and currently am a literacy teacher in the fifth grade at LaFollette Elementary School in Campbell County. I currently tutor a fifth grade student and a first grade student after school but have plenty of time to add to my schedule. I have training in the Balanced Literacy program in which the word study, reading objectives, and writers' workshop are combined in a one and a half hour block of student driven, teacher facilitated activities.
