Experience Summary
As a 2010 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, I was very much driven to achieve a high level of excellence in education. I was President of our local Kentucky Education Association and Chair of our Student Government Association. I have earned two bachelor degrees, a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, which has enabled me to have a wide variety of experiences. Before earning my Elementary Education certificate, I work with elementary age students assessing their literacy levels using assessments and monitored their progress over 2 years. I am familiar with a wide range of techniques to teach and enhance reading and comprehension skills for elementary aged students.
Teaching Style
I love teaching and working with all children. I believe all children can learn, but each in different ways. My goal is to work with your child where they are and help them find academic success. I am patient, understanding, and compassionate. I understand that when students struggle, they become frustrated. My goal is to find what method will work with your child so that learning becomes fun. I am a firm believer in teaching through discovery and in providing a constructivist approach to learning. I believe all children can meet their potential if they are given the appropriate surroundings and learning experiences.
