A Little Bit About Me...

I have recently graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in foreign languages (German, Spanish and French) and evolutionary anthropology. I have a commanding knowledge of the English language and also have a semester's experience working with the UNM newspaper, the Daily Lobo, including a brief time as the editor of the news desk. During my undergraduate career I studied abroad in Germany for a semester, as well as participated in an internship in Nicaragua for 5 months. These two experiences greatly increased my understanding of the German and Spanish languages and cultures.
Very open to however the student(s) believes they will learn best. I will take note of the student's specific needs and modify my teaching style accordingly, creating a personalized plan/style.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe it is best to offer guidance, and allow the student to go through the process of discovery. Things learned independently are much more prized and valuable. Of course, one cannot let them flounder too long so that discouragement sets in. And it is best to find out what they like, and to work with that as much as possible.
While in New York, I worked for two years as a teacher of Science at a Junior High school in the Bronx. There I was awarded "Rookie-Teacher-of-the-Year." For one year, I also tutored after school to earn extra money. I have also taught in California and Santa Fe, NM. My passion is to be an International speaker on the topics of Metaphysics and Spirituality.

My teaching style is unique to each student due to the fact that everyone learns in different ways. I do stay consistent in coaching through how to problem solve because I don’t want my students to become dependent upon me. They need to learn how to utilize all resources when studying both independently and in a group setting. At San Juan College I work with students who have struggle with math and most of which lack confidence in their ability to succeed in the subject. I focus on giving reassurance when due yet also being persistent in study habits and it’s a joy to watch the student evolve throughout the semester.

Having earned a Ph.D. in Biostatistics from one of the top statistics schools in the country, I not only know the mathematics behind statistical theory - I have applied statistics in a wide variety of research settings. An ongoing aspect of working as a statistician is using clear communication to explain techniques and results in layman's terms.
