As an undergraduate student at Central Washington University, I was self motivated and involved in various activities. I have earned two bachelor degrees, BA in Sociology and BA in Law and Justice. In addition to these two broad areas of studies, I am a McNair Scholars recipient and conducted graduate level research. I have mentored and advised students as an employee in student affairs and as a Teacher's Assistant in the Law and Justice Department. During the last 5 years I have tutored students in Sociology, psychology, philosophy and basic grammar skills. I enjoy teaching all age groups. I especially like working with High School students.Initially, they can be quite a challenge to work with, but once they are engaged they are fully immersed in the topic! I graduated from Arizona State University with a Liberal Arts degree. This enabled me to work at JCPenney, working my way up the ladder. I ended that career as a Department Manager/Merchandiser supervising up to 25 people. Since then I was a substitute teacher; taking on any task, then eventually working in my own classroom teaching 3-6 grade. I attended Heritage University for 3.5 years in pursuit of my Nursing degree. I have taken College math, written many college papers, and studied alot of science along the way. I also cordinated a mentor program through YVCC for almost two years. I have recently changed paths and with obtain my BA in criminal justice in less than a year. I changed paths after the sudden death of my mother just over a year ago. I graduated with a 3.9 from Whitworth College in 1979. I taught a 1st/2nd grade class for three years. My teaching certificate is not current. I home schooled my 4 children- the oldest through 8th grade. My second son had a learning disability. I spent many hours researching the best methods of teaching him to read. He made the deans list his first quarter in college! I recently taught adults how to do enumeration for the 2010 Census Bureau. I lead a club for middle school students.
