I enjoy teaching all age groups. I especially like working with High School students.Initially, they can be quite a challenge to work with, but once they are engaged they are fully immersed in the topic! I like to be creative and interactive! I was a difficult High School student so I can relate to many that get bored with some topics. I really like to use transactional teaching methods. I introduce a subject and have discussions about the material rather than strictly lecturing.I like to learn what the student can teach me after assigned a reading. Have them go in the front of the room and explain a portion of the reading. It also helps them develop confidence in their public speaking. I enjoy working with children! I am patient and kind. I also have high standards and believe that everyone can reach their own potential. I celebrate the little sucesses! Part of my previous job entailed "independent work" from the students for about 2 1/2 hours each day. During this time I would work one on one with each student. This was a good challenge because everyone was working on a different level! It was exciting. I graduated from Arizona State University with a Liberal Arts degree. I learn in the most unheard of ways, and every childs learning style is different from the other, but that is what makes learning so fun. I aim for success and my mentoring experience for first year college students makes me a firm believer in meeting individual goals. I think that once the student finds what works best for them there is no holding them back. The discovery is the most important aspect in every childs life.
