As an undergraduate at UConn, I pursued a number of fields from computer science to communications and philosophy, giving me a wide range of experience in a multitude of subject areas. In my senior year, I became a substitute teacher for grades 7-12 in all subjects. I am currently a graduate student in criminal justice, writing papers and doing research almost continuously.

I enjoy helping people learn something new. I think anyone can do anything they put their mind to. I would allow the student time to get to know me so they would feel comfortable with me. Students sometimes feel too vulnerable to try things when they don't know someone because they do not want to make mistakes. I would say that my teaching style is very interactive. Anyone can give instructions but I love feedback from a one on one situation as well as a group environment. I base alot of my instruction on analogies; when a person can relate an experience or another word to a term being tought, their understanding is broadened and 99% of the time embedded in the longterm memory. I have learned from my best teachers that patience and being aware of how each individual student understands the subject matter are virtues.
