I enjoy working with all learners - no matter the age, child or adult. I enjoy the challenge it brings of figuring out what teaching method works for each individual. In my experience, it takes ingenious and quick thinking to activate the learning potential for some learners. I believe that switching the types of teaching is effective to continue interest on behalf of the learner. In a math example, it is helpful to not work on problems for the entire time. My experience is as broad as it is varied. When I taught at Sylvan, I taught every course they needed me to. When I taught professionally, I taught teams of scientists and then instructional designers. I'm comfortable with all ages and backgrounds.

Teaching is one of the most satisfying things I have ever done. I believe that everybody can learn, you just have to find the right teaching method for that individual. There are only a hand full of methods to choose from, they include: hands on, visual, reading, hearing or some unique blend of these. These are not the only methods, but these would cover most individuals. While I was teaching I would explain the material how I understood it. If that did not work it forced me to back up and come at it from a different angle. This process not only helped the students to understand the material, it also helped strengthen my understanding of the material.

Patients is a amazing thing to have when trying to teach. Many students learn at a different pace and I feel that finding that pace for every student is important. If you try to cram or learn something to quickly it only become heartache and bad grades.
In College I would form groups to try and study for upcoming test or exams. Doing this it really helped me to learn what I was studying and how other people learn as well.
