I enjoy working with all learners - no matter the age, child or adult. I enjoy the challenge it brings of figuring out what teaching method works for each individual. In my experience, it takes ingenious and quick thinking to activate the learning potential for some learners. I believe that switching the types of teaching is effective to continue interest on behalf of the learner. In a math example, it is helpful to not work on problems for the entire time. I take the time to get to know my students needs so I can better meet them I graduated from Mesa State college with a degree in mathematics with a secondary in teaching. Teaching is one of the most satisfying things I have ever done. I believe that everybody can learn, you just have to find the right teaching method for that individual. There are only a hand full of methods to choose from, they include: hands on, visual, reading, hearing or some unique blend of these. These are not the only methods, but these would cover most individuals. While I was teaching I would explain the material how I understood it. If that did not work it forced me to back up and come at it from a different angle. This process not only helped the students to understand the material, it also helped strengthen my understanding of the material. As a grad assistant in college, I worked for two years teaching students business software programs in a class room environment. I have also been a team leader in an engineering firm (Parsons Brinckerhoff) in which I liased constantly with both the public and field representatives. I like teaching by example -- that is, a given example of a real world problem that correlates with the subject at hand. I like to first define the objective desired, then work systematically toward achieving every step along the way with the tools at my disposal.

If they can see real life applications for the skills they are learning they will become engaged and enthusiastic. I have and continue to use many of the skills I learnt in school and they have been instrumental in assisting me to find solutions to complex problems.
