I am somewhat new to teaching, though my lack of tenure does not equate to my enthusiasm. My approach is to first find out what the students know about the topic and what comfort level they are at with the material. Once I have gotten a sense of where the student is at in the learning process, we then use their current knowledge as building blocks for future lessons. In College I would form groups to try and study for upcoming test or exams. Doing this it really helped me to learn what I was studying and how other people learn as well. Patients is a amazing thing to have when trying to teach. Many students learn at a different pace and I feel that finding that pace for every student is important. If you try to cram or learn something to quickly it only become heartache and bad grades.

I enjoy working with all learners - no matter the age, child or adult. I enjoy the challenge it brings of figuring out what teaching method works for each individual. In my experience, it takes ingenious and quick thinking to activate the learning potential for some learners.
