I have been teaching since I was young. I have tutored students since the age of 14 and I have taught students from ages 3 to 18 years old. I have been teaching in the Texas public school system for the last 4 years and I have loved every minute of it! I have taught all grades from Kindergarten to 5th as a special education inclusion teacher. As an inclusion teachers I have been able to teach grade level content to students who understand it but need for it to be taught in a different way. I am excellent at lesson differentiation and working with individuals who need help the most. As a Special Education teacher at heart, I firmly believe that education needs to be guided by the student. I may have a lesson to teach but I am constantly changing the lesson depending on the individual student. I believe that learning should be a fun experience that is according the the learners pace.

I am a seasoned veteran in Education. I taught for 28 years, and was a school counselor for 7 years. For the past 2 1/2 years I have been a substitute teacher, tutor for 5th graders, and part-time counselor for PreK - 5th grade at different Elementary schools in Corpus Christi, TX. I also taught Study Skills, Test Preparation Skills, and Organizational Skills to my students. I am Special Education Certified, and know how to work with students with different disabilities. This includes ADHD/ADD problems, Dyslexia, Reading comprehension, Autism, and many others. My daughter is Autistic, has a learning disability, and is Bi-Polar, so I have personal experience with people with disabilities. At present I am tutoring a College Student who is Autistic. Achieving a BA in history from TAMUCC has taught me to peer further into investigations of any sort. It has provided me with the tools that allow me to critically analyze situations and arguments. Being able to critically analyze different perspectives gives me the ability to discover different conclusions to arguments or problems. This degree has also honed in my reading and writing skills to that of a scholar's level. While attending TAMUCC, I often found my self helping others understand the complex arguments in our philosophy classes. I accredit this to my skills acquired while doing extensive analytical research for history essays theories. Explaining, showing, teaching, have always been something that I enjoyed doing. Upon graduting from college, I became an after-school tutor, grades 4-6, focusing on all levels of homework and emphasis on students who had particular needs. I entered the teaching field in 2005 as a high school English teacher in grades 9 and 12. I learned extensive outlets and skills in regards to test preparation, research, grammar, and real-world applications. My second and third year teaching was in an academy setting focusing on law. I taught grades 9, 10 and 12. There I was able to learn legal gargin, community involvement with our students and their education, and law papers. Over the last few years I have tutored in research writing, TAKS preparation, math of all levels, writing and other subjects. While in New York State, I was employed through the Alternative Suspension Program as an LVN. While there,I assisted with the teaching of students. This in turn gave me the opportunity to obtain my certification in Teaching. I remained in this position for two years. During this time, I had my own case load of 5-8 students grade 7-12. Following this position, I was employed at a tutor for those youth who were home bound. I attended college later in life. Recently, the opportunity arose to better myself. I chose Early Childhood Education and then continued on to obtain my Bachelor's Degree. Following this, I returned to school for Nursing. Eventually, we moved to Texas where I applied,tested and obtained my LCCA License.
