I am Special Education Certified, and know how to work with students with different disabilities. This includes ADHD/ADD problems, Dyslexia, Reading comprehension, Autism, and many others. My daughter is Autistic, has a learning disability, and is Bi-Polar, so I have personal experience with people with disabilities. At present I am tutoring a College Student who is Autistic. I help identify ADD/ADHD symptoms for a child who may never have been identified as well as to having them seek allergy/asthma treatment if warranted. Milder forms of ADD are almost never identified, but causes the child some difficulty at home or at school. I use a lot of handouts to inform families who may have these problems in their children. I make referrals to the professionals when warranted. I use a diagnostic form to help you see if your child has some of these characteristics. It can have a profound negative effect on organizational skills which I teach, how to get through homework, and an option most do not know about doing, use some programs at home that can help students turn around some of their difficult behaviors they exhibit. Upon graduting from college, I became an after-school tutor, grades 4-6, focusing on all levels of homework and emphasis on students who had particular needs. I entered the teaching field in 2005 as a high school English teacher in grades 9 and 12. While in New York State, I was employed through the Alternative Suspension Program as an LVN. While there,I assisted with the teaching of students. This in turn gave me the opportunity to obtain my certification in Teaching. I remained in this position for two years. During this time, I had my own case load of 5-8 students grade 7-12. Following this position, I was employed at a tutor for those youth who were home bound. I attended college later in life. Recently, the opportunity arose to better myself. I chose Early Childhood Education and then continued on to obtain my Bachelor's Degree. Following this, I returned to school for Nursing.
