I obtained a BA from CU at Boulder in 2004 in Psychology and Communications and I am now currently one year away from attending medical school. I have taken all the science courses required to get into medical school and have been tutored in many of them as a supplemental form of education. In my time being tutored many other students realized how much more knowledge of the subject i had gained above them that they in turn recruited me to tutor them. I have been doing that for approximately six years. I am a Visual learner/teacher, I feel it is much easier to learn when being able to visualize what is happening. Many of the sciences happen at such a microscopic level that it may be hard to comprehend what is actually happening so with larger visual aides I believe learning is much easier and less stressful.

A good teacher is able to recognize strengths and weaknesses in his students and create an approach that utilizes the strengths to improve the weaknesses. For instance, if somebody is having trouble grasping qualitative concepts but has a strong mathematical background, employing a quantitative approach to demonstrate the concept would be useful. Passionate yet easy-going, I understand the need for balance between challenging my students and exercising patience. Teaching has become a big passion of mine, and I have taught people of all ages. Everyone learns in a different way--some visually, others verbally. I like to incorporate both into my teaching, by showing both you reinforce the topic and hit on both learn styles. After both a visual demonstration and verbal explanation I like to see the individual repeat what I just showed them.
