In my college curriculum and internships, I experienced and observed a great deal about people and various styles of processing information. That is, every person has a rather unique way of learning. I would think the most important point to tap into, when tutoring someone, would be to discover how he/she best learns and on what levels. My strongest subject is English and grammatical skills. Literally all my life I have been asked by students, parents and teachers to help students who were having trouble. I get tremendous fulfillment from watching someone who has been frustrated finally "get it." In addition to teaching music lessons, tutoring all subjects, and homeschooling my own two children, I have worked for the last 17 years with a private school. There I have taught a wide variety of subjects, but they depend on me the most heavily for high school sciences and maths. After falling into a tutoring situation in 2007 with a High School AP Biology student, I decided that tutoring may be the right thing for me. I was hired the next year by Advanced Learning Center and tutored K-5 Reading and Math for a total of 11 students. I feel tutoring is a perfect fit for my personality as it is most rewarding to see the direct effect on the children. I really enjoy being involved in the growth of their minds and confidence.
