My comments on tutoring Drawing : For the greater part of my life I have been deeply interested in art in all it's phases and have had a mumber of original works published as full page covers for the arts section of "Seven Days" - a weekly newspaper published in Burlington VT. I have participated in Open Studios frequently in both Vermont and Florida.

For the greater part of my life I have been involved in various facets of education. I have acted as substitute teacher at the middle and high school levels for a total of 10 years, 8 of which were spent at 12 schools in Vermont and 2 at 10 schools in Hernando County FL. I held the position of Senior ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) with a highly reputed language school in Vienna, Austria for a period of 2 years and have offered ESOL instruction as a volunteer teacher at the Tarpon Springs campus of St. Petersburg College and with the Hernando County branches of H.E.A.R.T. and R.S.V.P. I have given prvate English language lessons to individuals from Nepal, Brazil and Puerto Rico. From December 2011 through April 2012 I was employed by "A Quantum Leap" as aa tutor under the SES program. On the job teaching experience in illustration at a book publishing company. I teach the way i was taught, from the sketchbooks of the masters, classical drawing to enable to student to render 3d on a 2d surface using modeling, blending, variation of line, atmospheric perspective, shading, highlighting. then i concentrate on use of space of picture window, or design of the piece. once these are mastered, i concentrate on the concepts the student wants to focus on and how to apply what they've learned to accomplish their objective.

Drawing is one of my top subjects! Pencil, Charcoal, Chalk... you name it, I've worked with it (likely). I can teach you the basics to the advanced techniques needed to create masterworks for display. From still life projects to live models, I can teach you what you need to know.

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Art Institute in 2004 with top honors and a nomination for Best Demo Reel. I taught for a semester in 2004 at the Institute and went on to teach privately the the next two years (tutor). I became a photoshop trainer at work and an Art Director of a million dollar graphic design firm by 2007. I have flown to Cape Town in South Africa and Canberra in Australia to teach crash course photoshop seminars- up to 8 people with no computer experience at all. I have lead a team of 15 in photo editing for a professional studio and still teach privately today.
Hands on and detailed lecture. I talk fast, but I teach you to work fast as well. The hardest part of my lesson will be knowing when to put it down and call something finished. I love to laugh, be loud and have a great time. It's a joy to teach and I make sure it's a joy to learn as well.

Let's Learn!

At 29 years old, with over three positions as Art Director/Lead Designer and over 10 years experience and a insatiable passion for all things creative, I consider myself a valid teaching source! All through grade school i was drawing pictures for my friends, and selling then to make lunch money, after high school I decided to pursue my higher education in Graphic Design at Valencia College, after a brief stint with Psychology. After I graduated I freelanced for 5 years then, pursued my higher degrees at Full Sail University. www.behance.net/eightyfaux
Being passionate about what I do drives me to help others understand and achieve to the levels I have. Seeing a student succeed is a great pleasure of mine, I feel being hands on with the material is the most efficient way to learn. I taught in the Columbus Ohio City schools for 30 years. I taught first and secomnd grade for 20 of those years Ten of those years I was a Reading teacher to all ages.. My experience and love is for the primary child. As a reading teacher I received much inservice from the school system and also from classes. My greatest plesure is working one on one with a student. I have seen much progress in my students working in this manner.
I believe in starting where the child is currently working, identifying strengths and weaknesses. Motivation and fun are very important. Reading is my special love and must be encouraged. I do this by teaching phonics as well as comprehension skills. I believe every child can reach his or her potential with patience and kindness as well as encouragement.I am a firm believer in reading with each child and reading to each child. I enjoy teaching young and pre-teen children. They are so eager to learn. I have grandchildren which I have helped. I tend to lean more to art now, however I still like to sit down & help with math, reading, english and other courses. When there are no distractions, I can get one on one with a child and help them to learn better. Getting to know a child's willingness to learn and where he needs help sets the pace as to where to go from there.
At Keystone College in (LaPlume, PA) I took 3 years of Accounting,Legal Math which involved learning descriptions of court & legal proceedings,Business math, which was all about owning a business. Marketing, psychology, discussing right & left side of brains, Freud, Physical gym, learning all about the human body, and also English I & II which included reading, discussing what the author meant to tell, essays & proper grammer. A Little Bit About Me...

Not only do I love to teach and help students learn, I also enjoy helping students develop an appreciation for learning in general. The most gratifying experience while teaching is the look on a student's face, after hours of confusion, after they reach an understanding of the concept. The environment that I believe works the best is one that allows the student to have fun while learning; which creates a more positive environment for future learning. I remember my experiences with teachers that not only instructed lessons, but also brought fun and enjoyment to the experience. I try to follow in their footsteps, and lead other students to a similar appreciation.
During the completion of my Bachelor's degree in Psychology I had the opportunity to work with the Maricopa College District, as well as the No Child Left Behind Program. While working with the Maricopa College District I as ... read more

I am fascinated with the concept that the more senses you utilize in teaching the better the child learns and retains what was taught. Some children respond to verbal teaching, while others prefer visual teaching, or others like to interact with their environment (the hands on approach). Each child has their own language. I believe that a teacher must do whatever is necessary to reach the student so that he can learn. Learning should be fun and enjoyable! I love seeing a child understand a new concept; it is like learning all over again. Today, few students and for that matter parents enjoy mathematics. Mathematics would best be taught by those who love it so they can pass their love of the subject onto their students.
Although I have a well-rounded education, most of my knowledge and work experience is in mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus plus the r ... read more

More About This Tutor...

It was required that I take Education in a Multicultural Society in college, which peak my interest in education. I began tutoring students and found it very exciting to see students learned and comprehend an assignment or lesson that they were having some difficulty with. As a supervisor with a Social Service agency it allowed me to become even more involved with the community and education. I began as a substitute teacher for about a year - until a school Principle asked me to please become a full time teacher for an algebra class due to my accounting background and strong classroom management style. In addition, I home school my own son as he became older and was having a difficult time with high school. Every child should have an opportunity to succeed and a right to an education.
I enjoy teaching and watching children learn. I do believe that all children can learn and should ... read more
