Teaching Style

In my teaching, I make every effort to engage the attention of my students. While covering the subject at hand, I bring into my lessons references to a spectrum of other subjects when relevant such as historical context, cultural elements, literary allusions, modern and historical implications and facts and trivia relating to the subject which I believe will not only be of interest to the student but will also provide a more rounded appreciation of the benefits of a wide ranging education.

My Hobbies

I have been an amateur artist for most of my adult life and have had a number of original artworks published. I also enjoy wood carving and the construction of terraces, stone walls and garden structures. Although not considered a hobby per se, I volunteer in areas of great interest to me. I have been a volunteer greeter at the Weeki Wachee Mermaid Park and the Homosassa Wildlife Preserve and a volunteer usher at the Palladium Theater in St. Petersburg and with the Tarpon Springs Cultural Treasures. I have been a volunteer ESOL and GED instructor with Career Central and am currently a volunteer with "Pay It Forward" an agency that assists unmarried mothers. I also enjoy keeping fit and exercise on a regular basis and work out at the YMCA and privately.

Other Comments

I thorougly enjoy working with individuals of all ages and from all walks of life to assist them in achieving their educational goals and to provide them with an appreciation of the benefits of gaining knowledge in a wide variety of subjects. I have been consistently successful in generating great rapport with those with whom I have had the opportunity to act as instructor/tutor.
