When I was in high school I had a lot of anxiety about math. I went back to college late in life and I was terrified that I would have to take a few math courses to graduate. It wasn't long before math was my favorite class and I changed my major. When I was in school I helped a lot of my classmates with calculus. After graduating from Georgetown University in Washington D.C., I returned to Wyoming to work in politics and government. I have been asked to teach chapters on Government in the local high schools as well as teaching Sunday School classes locally in Cheyenne. Teaching children takes patience and creativity. Each child is different in their attention span and interests. Making each subject important and interesting is one place to start. It is crucial to never let a child give up, and not to give up on them yourself. My goal in teaching is to determine which way the child learns, for example a visual learning may need to draw out spelling words, where an audible learner needs to recite them. I love to find new ways to relate what they are learning with life outside of school and in this way show them how important the subject is.
