Sign Language is one of my top subjects! I am a native ASL user since I was born. I have taught ASL at several colleges and universities in East and West coast. I am teaching at school for the Deaf at the moment.

I started my teaching experience when I got a job as a subsitute teacher at school for the Deaf in Ontario, Canada. I loved it so much and I went to university to get my degree in Criminology and Sociology and got masters in Deaf Education and Recreation. I used to be a subsitute teacher at Model Secondary School for the Deaf in Washington, D.C. and got a job as a teacher at Maryland School for the Deaf. I moved here 7 years ago and work here at California School for the Deaf as a teacher. ASL Teaching experience: I taught ASL at McDaniel College for a semester. I started to teach ASL at Ohlone College (high school course) for 3 years and Stanford University for a year, and College of San Mateo. ASL I and II. Also, I have been doing a lot of tutor sessions for individuals who are taking ASL III or higher and Interpreter Preparation Program.

American Sign Language Teacher/Tutor

Itaught two different schools for the Deaf, one in Maine and one in Fremont, CA for 46 years. Then I was an Americn Sign Language teacher at Delta College in the year of 2011. Last year, I was a full time ASL teacher at the Valley Christian High School in Dublin. And now I am an ASL teacher at Los Medanos College in Brentwood. I am very experienced with ASL as I am Deaf but can speak and read lips very well. Teaching has always been my passion and I enjoy working with people of all ages very much. I have a Master's degree plus 15 units from University of Maine, Portland-Gorham after I graduated from Gallaudet Unversity in Washington D.C. Local American Sign Language Tutor

Hello! My name is Emma and I have taken 3 years of American Sign Language. My experience in the classroom involves only having deaf teachers, which I feel was the most helpful to my learning. A Little Bit About Me...

I have the ASL books from my classes and also believe seeing and doing are better teaching tools than a book.
I have been actively learning ASL since 2009 and have completed levels 1-4 with a B or higher. I have taken the lab classes to help improve my skills while interacting with other ASL students and a deaf teacher. American Sign Language Tutor

I believe that it is best for the student to let me know what needs they have in order for me to help them become more fluent in sign language. Once we have accessed your skills, then we can move on to improve them. I can go through vocabulary with the student. I can give the students signed as well as written tests. I am also willing to accompany the student to deaf socials where they can practice their sign language skills with deaf persons.
