American Sign Language Teacher/Tutor

Itaught two different schools for the Deaf, one in Maine and one in Fremont, CA for 46 years. Then I was an Americn Sign Language teacher at Delta College in the year of 2011. Last year, I was a full time ASL teacher at the Valley Christian High School in Dublin. And now I am an ASL teacher at Los Medanos College in Brentwood. I am very experienced with ASL as I am Deaf but can speak and read lips very well. Teaching has always been my passion and I enjoy working with people of all ages very much. I have a Master's degree plus 15 units from University of Maine, Portland-Gorham after I graduated from Gallaudet Unversity in Washington D.C. I also taught Baby Talk with hearing parents who have hearing babies and toddlers at the Livermore Lawrence Lab for 8 weeks. Another ASL class I taught was at Quail Lakes Baptist Church in Stockton.

Sign Language is one of my top subjects! I am a native ASL user since I was born. I have taught ASL at several colleges and universities in East and West coast. I am teaching at school for the Deaf at the moment.

I started my teaching experience when I got a job as a subsitute teacher at school for the Deaf in Ontario, Canada. I loved it so much and I went to university to get my degree in Criminology and Sociology and got masters in Deaf Education and Recreation. I used to be a subsitute teacher at Model Secondary School for the Deaf in Washington, D.C. and got a job as a teacher at Maryland School for the Deaf. I moved here 7 years ago and work here at California School for the Deaf as a teacher. ASL Teaching experience: I taught ASL at McDaniel College for a semester. I started to teach ASL at Ohlone College (high school course) for 3 years and Stanford University for a year, and College of San Mateo. ASL I and II. Local American Sign Language Tutor

Hello! My name is Emma and I have taken 3 years of American Sign Language. My experience in the classroom involves only having deaf teachers, which I feel was the most helpful to my learning. I am well aware of deaf culture and can provide background knowledge and etiquette. I plan to continue taking ASL courses in the Fall.

I have helped tutor many ASL students and peers in ASL and I am proud to say that they improved as requested. Creative writing is something that I have always felt natural doing. I am currently in college, attending Chabot College. I was recently in a 4 year college down in Pomona, CA for a quarter, Cal Poly Pomona, and in a couple of years I will be transferring Cal Poly SLO. I passed my high school years with A's and B's and have also been passing my university/college classes with the same.
