I have been an 8th grade math teacher at Osawatomie Middle School for the last 9 years. My classes have ranged from Consumer Math to Pre-Algebra to Algebra I. I also taught two years of 7th grade math. In the last 3 years I have tutored 8 different students at Osawatomie High School during before school hours. I am looking to build on that experience in the summer months. I love making math fun and relating it to every day life. I have never had formal experience tutoring. However Throughout my years of schooling I would participate in study groups which I see as everyone tutoring eachother. I also have two siblings, one very close in age and the other is approximately four years younger. Needless to say, I frequently helped my younger sister with her homework. Just to clarify when I say 'help' I do not mean I just gave her the answers, I would make sure that I either explained or demonstrated the correct way to approach a problem in order to make sure that she understood how to apply the knowlege come test time. I have been learning and speaking Spanish for 13 years! I would argue that my understanding of grammar is better than most native speakers. I majored in Spanish at Brigham Young University. I lived in the Foreign Language Student Residence for a school year to become more fluent. I also did a couple of mission trips in Mexico and a summer internship with a local Spanish radio station.
