My comments on tutoring Pre-Algebra : I have assistant taught in this subject in an elementary school for a year and a half for an elementary school math club.

I took 4 years of Honors and AP mathematics classes at Blue Valley North High School (I received A's in each of the classes). I also received a 5 on the AP Calculus AB test. I have been learning and speaking Spanish for 13 years! I would argue that my understanding of grammar is better than most native speakers. I majored in Spanish at Brigham Young University. I lived in the Foreign Language Student Residence for a school year to become more fluent. I also did a couple of mission trips in Mexico and a summer internship with a local Spanish radio station. I worked as a bilingual teller at a bank for over 18 months, where I was able to practice my Spanish about half the time! I have experience as a tutor and hope to gain even more. As a graudate student I was a held a postion as a Graudate Research Assistant for the Geotechnical Lab. As such I taught undergraduate students the theory behind laboratory test, what each test provides the engineer and how to conduct the test. Furthermore I assisted undergraduate students with homework problems and helped them prepare for tests.
I am very hands on. I like to first show how a problem is done, discuss the purpose of each step and then the student work the problem. From there I prefer to have students work problems and ask questions as they come up. After each problem is complete I then review the problem with the student.
