I graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education/Child Development (ZA Endorsement). From that point on, I subbed in various elementary schools, including Rockford and Comstock Park. I obtained a kindergarten position at St. Adalbert School in the fall of 1996 and taught there for four years. I then transferred to St Paul the Apostle School in 2000, where for the past 10 years I have taught first grade. I earned my Master's Degree in Reading in the year 2003, which made me qualified to be a reading specialist. I hold high expectations for all my students to achieve the best that they can do. I am an innate musician. I've been performing, singing, and playing piano and flute since elementary school and have always adored it. My music experience began with performance where many people from high school through college encouraged me to pursue it professionally. I love to teach, to be of service, to share my natural musicality with choirs, children's choirs, and private students. I finished my B.M. degree and served as pianist, organist, flutist, conductor, singer, choir director in several churches. I've also had private voice students. I know that students can work and achieve if the right kind of motivation is given. Each child has their own learning style and interest which needs to be taken into consideration when working with thenm and then to be taught in that mode and style. My goal for the student is to learn through motivation when the interest is used in the lessons which will then enable the student to relate the lesson to their world. I am a firm believer that it is the choices that the student makes that makes success or failure and to take responsibility for these choices. I really enjoy teaching and using a variety of educational methods to reach students. Some students respond much better to one-on-one teaching methods than they do in a larger class environment. I have had many successful tutoring experiences in the past with a variety of students (even those classified as having learning disabilities).
