I am currently the writing skills specialist at a local college and have three years of tutoring experience in writing, two of which were during the time I was completing my Master's Degree. In 2004, I spent six months teaching English in Korea. Though my degree is in Music Therapy,I enjoy English and Reading as well. My past seven years working for Measurement Incorporated as a Reader/Scorer for 4th, 5th, 6th and 11th grade writing for several states. This has enabled me to gain an understanding of the writing skills at the elementary level. Therefore, I am most interested in tutoring elementary students in Language Arts.
I would offer a variety of book selections to the students. I would ask the child his or her interests and base the lesson around that as I believe we all learn better if the topic is of interest to us.
