My love of reading and writing has led me to excel in 2 languages. An English major at Carleton College, I mastered the art of putting thoughts on paper to persuade, compare, or explicate; as well as how to read for meaning. Later at the Sorbonne in Paris, I transferred these talents to French. I have since taught and tutored reading, writing, and speaking in both languages in the U.S. and abroad.
My teaching style is active and enthusiastic. I show students clues and shortcuts in all sorts of subjects so that learning can be fun and even easy. I recently relocated to Portland from the New York City / New Jersey area after working in the e-marketing department at Carnegie Hall. I've studied piano throughout my life, starting at age 7, and graduated Westminster Choir College in Princeton NJ with a Bachelor of Arts in Music in 2005. While at Westminster, much of the curriculum I studied was focused on music education and piano pedagogy.
