If you need English help, I'm your girl!

I like to work one on one with students, however I'm open to group settings. I'm adaptive to how the student learns and try to work from there.
I'm an English education major currently attending Western Michigan University to earn my degree. Before starting at Western I attended Jackson College, where I excelled in my writing classes and was asked to become a writing fellow. Through this program I worked with students at the college answering questions and helping them with any and all works of writing. I also worked within a Jackson area prison helping inmates with various writing and English related issues. Before I began tutoring I wrote for my local newspaper for two years. First I was a part of a teen issues column, but was asked to continue to write even after the column was over. Language tutoring from a successful polyglot and linguist

I think it is very important to meet the student at their level of interest and need. If the primary goal is simply getting enough experience to do well on a test or excel in a class, I focus on nemonic aids or other techniques (depending on the students learning style) to ensure success with this shorter term goal. If the student has a thirst for knowledge and wishes to explore the language in more depth, I am also very willing to take them on a journey through all of its intricacies. At our first session, I ask that each student complete a short quiz to determine their learning style (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, etc). Every child learns differently and I believe that discovering what works best for each student is the first step towards success. Once we figure out what his/her learning style is, I cater to this.
