Experience Summary
I have two years of experience as a GED tutor, and have graduated 12 students in that time.
I have been a computer programmer for 40 years, including 18 years as a freelance programmer.
I have dabbled in writing over the years, writing poems, short stores and vignettes. In the past three years I have begun focusing more on writing, and am 2/3 through a novel. I have studied communication, language and writing extensively on my own, and have written a grammar textbook, which I have used successfully with my GED students.
Teaching Style
I believe in starting from the beginning and taking one step at a time, and not moving on to the next step until the current one is understood -- a surprisingly uncommon approach. I am very skilled at figuring out what a student isn't getting, and helping them get it, and I believe every student can get it. I am a very relaxed, easygoing person, and don't get stressed or thrown by a non-comprehending student.
