World traveler impacting others for a greater purpose

Conversational, videos, books, immersion with deaf people
I have a love for the deaf community and went to school to be an interpreter for them. Sign language became part of my life at a young age when I met a deaf man in the church I attended at the time and asked him for candy. From there on out my heart/passion for deaf people in the US and over seas has grown. I love being able to help people know the basics and conversationally sign with those who are hard of hearing or deaf. To be able to bridge a gap in America because of a language barrier is a really cool feeling. I have come to learn not to limit what you can or what to do in your life but to run after it and pursue it whole heartily. This is just one of the dreams I have had the opportunity to chase and advance in.

I enjoy the wonders of discovery and assisting others with master concepts and practical logic that helps them in every aspect of their lives. Tutoring is not so simply as to aid a child in finding the answer or getting a college student to pass the examine. It is truly the disciplined approach to knowledge and truth that allows one to branch i ... read more

My whole life I have had a love of education. I look forward to sharing this love with students and teaching them that learning need not be something to be feared. I am a very adaptable teacher who can easily modify my teaching to work for a variety of learners. My style uses a constructivist approach in which all students are viewed as unique individuals and are expected to take an active role in their education. Most importantly to me, I embrace mistakes and help my students to understand that mistakes as simply part of the learning process and not a dead end. I truly believe that I can make a positive difference in these students' lives through tutoring and I look forward to the challenge.
Despite a demanding, accelerated academic schedule, during my three years at a competitive private college I voluntarily tutored underprivileged elementary students. In earning my BA in Soci ... read more

Here is Some Good Information About Sign Language Tutoring

Are you studying sign language as preparation for a profession, to pass a test, to communicate with loved ones or simply for general knowledge? Select a tutor to customize your learning. Some think that sign language preceded spoken language, and just as there are foreign languages, dialects and accents there are also variances in signing. Tutors are waiting to be selected to help with your needs. Parents of deaf children should introduce them to language as early as possible because the earlier a child is exposed to and acquires language skills the better the communication skills will become.
