I use a commercial grammar text and workbook, which I select according to the needs and age of the specific student. We work through grammar and exercises with cultural lessons included. I include practice in conversation and composition as well. We work on any class-related material and address specific concerns of the student. I like to use a lot of visual supports, use scenarios or puppet shows (for young children) to have interaction in the language. As a native speaker I easily improvise when the student(s) show a specific interest. The culture is also very important to have a better grasp of the language. I graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in History, and spent some time overseas studying music. My BA in History made me into a strong writer and critical thinker.
