This hands off technique reflects the minimalist philosophy of the writing center I worked for, and I have found it is a far more effective way to help students grasp concepts which will globally make their writing better. Understanding the fundamentals of good writing is the most important tool to becoming a good writer; where merely diagnosing an issue and giving an answer for it leads to much more lazy writing in the future. That's what makes fundamental understanding so important, because it carries over into future assignments. I am an English major from the University of Houston. I have taken many English and humanity courses in the past 7 years. I also tutor students on my own in college level courses currently, as well as substitute teach all grade levels in Katy ISD. I have worked with special ed students, resource students, and GT/AP students. I have a wide variety of experience with students of all age and learning ranges. I have trained adults for about 5 years in total both in a business and education setting. I have taught/tutored students for 3 years in total. My strengths truly lie in my ability to teach writing and grammar. I can teach this from the elementary to college level. I have extensive experience writing research papers and essays in my own college career. I have also taught writing to students. I really try to find out how the student learns best as well as what the student specifically is having issues doing.
