Experience Summary
I began tutoring people when I was in the eigth grade. I decided I wanted to help out at the school across the street from my middle school in Colorado. I enrolled in a class that allowed us to go and assist the teachers and help the students. I fell in love with kids then for sure. I already knew I liked them because I started babysitting when I was 11 and couldn't stop! Then in ninth grade, a neighbor failed kindergarten and asked if I would starting coming over several days a week to help him understand what was being taught. Needless to say, he made it to the first grade! I now have a 17 year old sister who is constantly asking for my assistance in her homework and it is with great pleasure that I assist her.
Teaching Style
I have a background in Psychology, so I am extremely intuitive with what a person needs regarding their learning style. I am able to adapt my teaching style to their needs. Patience is something that I have learned over the years, so I am able to work well with those who just need a little extra attention. One of my greatest talents is being able to put myself in another's shoes, and therefore understand why it is something is not clicking. This way I can develop their skills through their best way of communicating.
My Hobbies
My favorite hobby is pilates and yoga, although I do love to bike ride and hike as well. Another thing I truly enjoy is spending time with animals, in many different fashions. Whether it be visiting orphaned animals at CAPS or SPCA, to feeding horses and walking dogs!!
