Honestly, not sure how to answer this. I think the entire benefit of working with a private tutor is that the tutor is able to change and adapt to complement the student. I wouldn't think to walk into a room and presume to know where the student is struggling or how best to help him. What I do consistently is to focus on basics and use colors, organization and logic to solve problems. Too often, people memorize the steps without understanding where they come from, this leaves them high and dry if theres any chance of test anxiety or a "curveball" question. I’m a graduate of Oregon State University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business and Marketing Education. I spent most of my working career in business, management and sales. 2009, I returned to my first love, the classroom. I’m currently a substitute teacher in the Washoe County School District, ACE Charter, and some private schools. I hope to soon have a full time teaching position, when a position becomes available. My vast experience of teaching children and young adults hasn’t been in a traditional classroom. The teaching venues I refer to were in the workplace, with young adults (teenagers) as retail employees and an outdoor setting as a Boy Scout Leader. I offer a real life experiences in my teaching methods. I love teaching and working with all children. I believe all children can learn, but each in different ways. Having spent a lifetime in the business world, I ha

I am a recent graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno. I earned my BS in Finance through the College of Business Administration which enabled me to gain experience in different subjects such as math, economics, accounting, information systems, and marketing. I also used to tutor other, younger students when I was in high school. I am a very understanding and considerate person and my teaching style reflects that. I have been counseling a week-long church camp in southern California for the past 5 years now and I absolutely love doing it. The ages are 9-12 and I look forward to it every year. I have also worked with older children when I worked at the Boy's and Girl's Club. I definitely believe a successful tutor can really change the life of a young adult by stressing the importance of education. Sometimes all it takes is hearing it from a different person in a different perspective.

I am a parent and I understand that educating our children is a priority. Although challenging, I particularly enjoy working with children, teaching them as well as learning from them. I believe that what makes me a good teacher is my ability to listen, understand a child's outlook on things and my constant focus on challenging traditional teaching styles. I am a believer in visualizing the everyday subject, and I always give memorable examples related to our learning material. Also, I understand that every child's capabilities are different and it is only a matter of adapting to their level of understanding and providing a constructive approach. I like to involve all students in classroom activities, delegate tasks and reward good results. I also share personal experiences from my academic and professional career. At the end of the day, knowing that I made a difference in someone's

I began tutoring my freshman year of college. I participated in a Sparks High School program designed to assist and motivate at risk students to achieve their educational goals. Tutoring continued through my own educational career, as I have spent countless hours assisting fellow peers and younger students with their school work. Now as a young professional, I would like to continue to assist today’s youth. My Law degree, along with my Bachelor of Science and Associate of Arts degrees in Business Management, shows my diverse expertise in both language arts and math. In addition, I highly enjoy science and have always excelled in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Most of my life has been focused on obtaining my education and improving my educational goals. I have a deep desire to assist others in reaching their full potential. I know that everyone learns in different ways, so my teac

Math has always been an achievement of mine. I went to school and started out for an engineering degree, completing all the math including hard calculus. When I got to the university level I thought a business degree would be better as it is used in all types of businesses. So on top of taking hard calc, I took business calc, accounting, finance, and economics classes which all focus on math. I have no real teaching style as I have never really taught anyone. I have always helped friends out while we were in school together and I would just have to figure out at what level of knowledge they were having a hard time understanding and start to help them understand what was going on from that point on.

My teaching style involves fun and an active student. Self-discovery is the best way to learn and retain knowledge. I see myself as the facilitator; I give my students the tools, so they can figure out problems on their own and become more self-reliant. I want learning to be fun, involving games, healthy competition and active learning, so students become life long learners. Having said that, I have high expectations for students' abilities and behavior. I have always been able to build rapport and a mutual respect with students of all ages and backgrounds. That trust makes the learning environment more impactful. I have taught ESL for 17 years to children and adults from all over the world. I have a strong command of language arts and am experienced at teaching literacy, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, essay writing, phonics, pronunciation, etc. I coordinate the after school enri
