Experience Summary
I’m a graduate of Oregon State University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business and Marketing Education. I spent most of my working career in business, management and sales. 2009, I returned to my first love, the classroom.
I’m currently a substitute teacher in the Washoe County School District, ACE Charter, and some private schools. I hope to soon have a full time teaching position, when a position becomes available.
My vast experience of teaching children and young adults hasn’t been in a traditional classroom. The teaching venues I refer to were in the workplace, with young adults (teenagers) as retail employees and an outdoor setting as a Boy Scout Leader. I offer a real life experiences in my teaching methods.
Teaching Style
I love teaching and working with all children. I believe all children can learn, but each in different ways. Having spent a lifetime in the business world, I have a more practical, down to earth, hands on approach to learning.
Learning by doing is a Boy Scout approach to learning. As a Boy Scout Leader for many years, I recognized this teaching method, because this is how I learn.
I believe all children can meet their potential if they are given the appropriate surroundings and learning experiences. A few good educators can make a world of difference in a child's education.
