Experience Summary
I have taught ESL for 17 years to children and adults from all over the world. I have a strong command of language arts and am experienced at teaching literacy, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, essay writing, phonics, pronunciation, etc. I coordinate the after school enrichment program and annual play at Earl LeGette Elementary School. Having finished a financial planning course, I have also recently brushed up on my math skills. I have a well-rounded education and am constantly learning as I tutor my own children with their homework.
Teaching Style
My teaching style involves fun and an active student. Self-discovery is the best way to learn and retain knowledge. I see myself as the facilitator; I give my students the tools, so they can figure out problems on their own and become more self-reliant. I want learning to be fun, involving games, healthy competition and active learning, so students become life long learners. Having said that, I have high expectations for students' abilities and behavior. I have always been able to build rapport and a mutual respect with students of all ages and backgrounds. That trust makes the learning environment more impactful.
