I have taught taught writing for grades Kindergarten through fifth grade. I help prepare fourth grade students for the Nebraska State Accountability Writing assessment. As a part of this I taught an intervention writing group to go through the process of writing. I teach organization, sentence structure, voice, mechanics, grammar, etc. I am able to teach students the writing process of creating a well organized piece that contains a beginning, middle, and end. I have found that using a graphic organizer (or four square writing) is a useful strategy to implement when teaching struggling writers. I have been a teacher with CPS for four years. During my last two years, my Translation and Interpretation professor selected me to translate and interpret for the Buffalo County Diversion Program. I have had the privilege of attending and graduating from Southeastern University with my Bachelor of Arts in English and Intercultural Studies. In the summer of 2012 I completed an eight-week internship teaching English to refugees in Omaha.
