Coming from a family of academicians, and a father who has a doctorate in education, I learned to love learning at an early age and have always valued education and try to instill that in others. I am proficient in many areas and work well with all people from all walks of life, at varying levels. My experience comes from being in a helping profession, in which I assisted hundreds of people live up to and achieve their highest potential. My comments on tutoring Writing : I have taught taught writing for grades Kindergarten through fifth grade. I help prepare fourth grade students for the Nebraska State Accountability Writing assessment. As a part of this I taught an intervention writing group to go through the process of writing. I teach organization, sentence structure, voice, mechanics, grammar, etc. I am able to teach students the writing process of creating a well organized piece that contains a beginning, middle, and end. I have found that using a graphic organizer (or four square writing) is a useful strategy to implement when teaching struggling writers.

I have been a teacher with CPS for four years. I am currently a Special Education teacher for grades K-5. I teach a caseload of 33 students ranging in abilities. I have a significant amount of experience teaching reading, math, and writing to struggling learners. In addition to working with students that have disabilities, I also have a degree in Elementary Education. I teach regular education students within my intervention groups throughout my school day. I teach with multiple strategies to best fit the needs of the learner. I also have quite a bit of experience in teaching with technology (smartboards, iPads, apple tv, doc cam, etc)

I graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a BA in Spanish Translation and Interpretation and English. During my last two years, my Translation and Interpretation professor selected me to translate and interpret for the Buffalo County Diversion Program. Also during college, I tutored college students through the Center for Academic Success in Spanish and helped the students write and edit their paper (all disciplines). I have had the privilege of attending and graduating from Southeastern University with my Bachelor of Arts in English and Intercultural Studies. In the summer of 2012 I completed an eight-week internship teaching English to refugees in Omaha. This past year I held a job as a teachers assistant in the English Department of Southeastern University. I helped assist our majors, did some grading, and wrote newsletters. I also was part of a group research project for my class, History of English, which is to be published. I also, have a considerable amount of child care experience. A Little Bit About Me...

The thing I enjoy most about teaching is seeing a concept "click" in a child's head. I feel that this is possible with all children if the right strategy is used to teach them. Students learn in lots of different ways. I feel it would be my job as a tutor to find out what would work in each student's academic life.
