When I taught swimming one summer at the YMCA, I quickly became the favored instructor for kids aged 3-8, especially those in the extremes: fearful and fearless. I like to see children succeed, especially if I contribute to that progress. Teaching has been personal to me as I have regularly helped my nephew many times with his homework when he was younger. Conversational. From what I learned in Taiwan little kids are not for me. This is the truth. Kids at about 14 or 15 and older are much preferred. I don't think I am animated enough for younger children...well, not a GROUP of younger children anyway. When it comes to one on one though, it is much different I am sure. I like to give ideas on how to sound out words, remember grammar/math tricks and things like that.
I double majored in Biology and English with a Bachelor of Science degree from a very well known, highly esteemed University in Wisconsin. I went to Taiwan for two months from March-May 2010 and helped teach in a "Bushiban" or cram school to kids aged 6-15. I am currently looking for a full-time job relating to my degree.
