I truly believe that children are the future and I teach and treat them according to that. Teaching with Understanding is the primary goal that I have. I believe that there is no one set way to teach a child. We are all different therefore we must teach according to how our children respond. This allows our children to become more confident and less frustrated. This allows them to learn in an enviroment in which they thrive, learn, and grow
I taught Art for grade levels from 1st through 12th grade for a private school for 3 years. Due to the economy unfortunately our school had to remove the art & p.e. program. I love working with children, and our young adults. I believe art to be a subject matter that should not be left out, as it helps our children grow in other academic areas. As an Anthropology major, I was qualified to work as an archaeologist with the Joshua Tree National Park for 7 years. I was responsible for site recognition, recording and records keeping. I also interacted with the public as an employee of the park. I also led my own tour groups, all ages and abilities, into the desert for historic and nature tours. I have been a substitute teacher for the Morongo Basin School District for the past 3 years. I work with all ages and all school levels. I earned my BS in Child Development/Special Education from the Universisty of La Verne, CA. I have been a Substitute Teacher in the San Bernardino City Unified School District for nine and one-half years. I feel my greatest skill is in breaking down subject matter into smaller components until understanding occurs.
