I am a retired art teacher that taught many years in San Bernardino. I also have taught english,geography,math,health,test prep,American History.I have a masters degree in education and a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts.I still have a current teaching certificate with the state of California in Art Education.k through 12
I have the ability to break things down in very simple terms and communicate very well with students. I am patient and like working with people of all ages. I particularly get along well with teens. I am easy going and think that it is easy to draw students into learning once you have piqued their interests.

Education has been my passion and dream for as long as I can remember. Furthermore, I followed my dream and graduated from Cal State California with a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Studies and a concentration in History. Due to my education I am exceedingly familiar with classroom settings and the professionalism that comes with it. I also have accumulated plentiful hours of observations in different classrooms, along with many hours of volunteer help in numerous elementary and preschool classrooms. A Little Bit About Me...

I like to have a guide for the daily work and have specific goals every day. However, when someone is interested in a different subject, I like to explore that topic. I think it is very important to keep students alert and motivated, so I like to explore all types of learning expericences. For example, I enjoy working with the special education children, getting them to stretch and walk outside. I like to play music to them and get them to sing along. I also enjoy getting these children to create art and express themselves in short sentences, writing to match their abilties.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked for over 30 years in the field of teaching, both elementary students and special education students of all ages. I earned my BS in Child Development/Special Education from the Universisty of La Verne, CA. I have been a Substitute Teacher in the San Bernardino City Unified School District for nine and one-half years. I feel my greatest skill is in breaking down subject matter into smaller components until understanding occurs.
I believe children learn when you meet them at their own level, whatever that may be. Once you discover what the student knows, you can take the next step by building on that knowledge. I believe in small, successful steps. Once a student grasps a concept, it is evident in their face. I believe in leaving a student's learning session on a positive note.
