Teaching style depends on the student. Establishing rapport at the beginning of the sessions and taking the time to talk to each student one on one will set a good foundation for learning. When I work with students individually, I do not use pre-planned lessons. I assess their needs and develop custom tutoring sessions for their maximum benefit. I like teaching math because math problems all have a specific technique or method. Very little memorization is required. All math problems of a certain topic are completed using the the same methodology. Getting students to realize that is the key. Students who struggle in math will look at two homework problems in a section of a textbook and see two completely different problems. Once they understand the methodology is the same, they will begin to see the same problem repeated with different numbers (instead of two different problems). That is when I know I am successful.
